Santa Maria Tastebuddy
Staff education is often viewed as dull and a necessary evil. The challenge was to invent an inspirational tool for the hundreds of staff members (in several languages) which felt like fun, but also attained key business goals: informing and educating staff.
Internal education by collaboration
Our solution was a website that allows Santa Maria staff to inspire each other and to be inspired. We introduced a brand new digital learning experience inspired by the history of Santa Maria. Using the big employee-community of 900 people at Santa Maria, Tastebuddy invites for collaboration through challenges to one another (regardless of their country) which will bring together a further sense of bonding across countries.
How does it work?
When a Santa Maria employee logs in at any given time there are 'challenges' available to complete. Each challenge is worth x amount of points. Challenges range from the sublime to the ridiculous, for example "Go make a delicious Paneng Curry and upload a photo of it" to the more light hearted "Challenge a colleague to bite a lemon and record himself doing so!" Points are awarded for your activity in the Taste Buddy and classic gamification mechanics are applied to ensure the platform is fun, addictive and a smart long-term initative for the brand.
Put to the test
Trough the process of creating a seamless user experience, we discussed back and forth with the client and worked in sprints for user-testing on selected employees at Santa Maria. Choosing powerful colours throughout the app representing all the different flavours the Santa Maria product-line offers.
